HERNAN BRIZUELA

OWNER and INSTRUCTOR

Hernan Brizuela has taught and performed at various festivals, milongas and studios in New York and Massachusetts as well as in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland and Argentina. He was a principal dancer in the off-Broadway dance play Let's Speak Tango and choreographed and starred in the short film Gardenias. He performed in many productions led by Maestro Romulo Larrea, Tango First Century, Spotlight on Tango, TANGOS: from Gardel to Piazzolla and TANGO for lovers across the United-States, Canada and Europe.

As tango personalities who influenced him the most Hernán names Cesar Coelho of Forever Tango, Luis Canan, Jorge Torres (Tango salón), Francisco Forquera (escenario) and Carlos Perez (Tango salon).

ANITA FLEJTER

OWNER and INSTRUCTOR

Anita Flejter pursues her Argentine Tango fascination training with world-renowned dancers such as: Cesar Coelho, Chicho Fromboli y Juana Sepuldeva, Gustavo Naveira y Giselle Anne, Joanna Copez, Mariana Flores y Edwardo Capussi, Roberto Herrera, Fabian Salaz, Guillermina Quiroga, and many others.

Together with Hernan Brizuela, Anita Flejter is a co-owner an co-founder of Ultimate Tango Dance School in Boston, MA and Adelante Studios in New York City, NY. She is also a past owner of Stepping Out Studios in New York, NY.

Anita and Hernan created a unique, well structured, progressive tango program that proves itself extremely successful and popular.


GRISHA KHMYROV

TANGO INSTRUCTOR

Grisha Khmyrov started learning tango in 2009 with Hernan Brizuela in Boston. Soon he found himself dancing every day and enjoying tango more and more. He visited Buenos Aires and started taking many workshops with tango maestros.

His musical background (he composes and plays music in the band "Jamm" for decades) helps him have unique interpretation of tango.

In 2012 he started DJing on Boston's classic milongas as well as alternative ones. In 2013 Grisha has started teaching tango at MIT with Simonida (2 successful series of milonga classes). He attended and graduated from Hernan and Anita Teacher Assistant Program at Ultimate Tango.

TOBY BALSLEY

TANGO INSTRUCTOR

Toby Balsley started tango at Ultimate Tango with Hernan Brizuela and Anita Flejter.  Before embarking in Tango, he had been a hobby dancer for many years including Latin, ballroom, country 2-step and West Cost Swing.  He and his wife (also now a tango dancer) have found that the introducing of tango has improved their everyday commutations because at its heart, Tango is about partnership and relationship.

While a computer and data consultant by day, he has a musical background in singing, choral conducting, music theory and vocal musical composition.  He is fascinated by the many layers of music and dance that Argentine tango provides.


ANDI BABBS

TANGO INSTRUCTOR

Andi Babbs calls Ultimate Tango her home. She has intensively studied with Anita Flejter and Hernan Brizuela. Over the years, she’s learned from dozens of tango artists worldwide. She has visited Buenos Aires multiple times, and while there, she has taken many workshops with tango maestros. She’s a guest teacher at various places in the USA. 

Her enthusiasm is unparalleled.  When she’s not at Ultimate Tango, she can be found exchanging ideas, continuing her tango learning, and teaching tango. She is also the host of Andi-longa and a Tango DJ.

WAILING BALSLEY

With a passion for Argentine tango and a commitment to fostering personal connections, WaiLing Balsley brings a unique approach to teaching novice dancers. Drawing on strong interpersonal skills, she inspires students to embrace the learning process while encouraging critical thinking. Through a blend of logical and analytical techniques, she creates an environment where students not only learn the dance but also develop skills that enhance their everyday lives.

WaiLing emphasizes the importance of constructive communication and participative listening, fostering a supportive atmosphere that nurtures relationships. By equipping students with the tools to tackle personal and interpersonal challenges, she helps them grow both as dancers and individuals. Join her in the journey of mastering tango while building resilience and connection.
