ABOUT ULTIMATE TANGO
Tango Dance Classes and Lessons for Adults in Greater Boston Area and… globally
Ultimate Tango was born from the need to share the ‘Tango way’ of achieving things: dance leadership based on a deep understanding of where the universe of a couple is going, not just where the Leader is going. Following based on continuous feedback and the ability to make the couple shine.
Tango is a dance with a rich history and one that can truly impress those who see dancers who are skilled. Whether you want to impress your loved one, improve your physical health, or just take up a hobby that is fun and rewarding, tango can be the answer that you, a resident of Boston, MA, or maybe - a resident of the world, might be looking for. We take a hands-on, involved approach. Instead of just mindless repetition, we make sure that our students learn to understand every aspect of the tango dance and how to execute the movement properly – all while having a great time, improving their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing, and building life-long relationships.
Ultimate Tango Method teaches sensations as the steps are quickly forgotten while sensations can be recreated – since one’s body remembers. We do use sequences and demonstrate combinations of steps but we reveal the structure, and explain the relationship between elements from the inside out, as once understood the structure can be easily modified or manipulated to achieve the desired effect, to improvise, to surprise, to communicate, to never be bored again.
To be able to dance with anyone in any part of the world is a dream of many. Once you become, what we call a ‘Tango addict’, you will pack your tango shoes anywhere you go whenever you go. (Of course, after COVID-19 is tamed.) Tango Classes for Adults at Ultimate Tango are designed for students interested in exploring partner dancing with a focus on improvisation - so you are able to communicate and dance with anyone (even if you do not know their language) and really - dance to any music (we call it ‘Alternative Tango’) in the Greater Boston area and now globally.
So what’s the difference between Tango, which is a partner dance, and dances traditionally perceived as solo dances such as ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, etc? Argentine Tango is a dance based on partnership. Therefore it is not just the improvement of one’s own skills that matters, but also the ability to clearly communicate with one’s dance partner. To improvise tango requires even more involvement. It works like magic - you communicate your wishes through body language and your partner ‘magically’ responds. Do you speak ‘body language? You definitely should. In a world full of technology - the body still ‘talks’.
Partnering with other dancers requires trust and commitment often leading to lifelong friendships. We aim for perfect synchronicity with a partner, alignment with music, expression, and illustration of feelings, all while executing often very complicated figures, steps, and sequences.
Tango dance classes offer residents of Medford, MA, the Greater Boston area, and now residents of the world the experience that not only teaches them to tango but provides them with cultural intelligence, emotional intelligence, social interaction skills, physical and mental skills anyone and everyone can benefit from throughout their lifetime.
All students enrolled in Beginner level classes of the program are learning the fundamental structure of Argentine Tango, its most recognized steps, combinations, and elements including cruzada, baldoza.
