ABOUT ULTIMATE TANGO

Tango Dance Classes and Lessons for Adults in Greater Boston Area and… globally

Ultimate Tango was born from the need to share the ‘Tango way’ of achieving things: dance leadership based on a deep understanding of where the universe of a couple is going, not just where the Leader is going. Following based on continuous feedback and the ability to make the couple shine.

Tango is a dance with a rich history and one that can truly impress those who see dancers who are skilled. Whether you want to impress your loved one, improve your physical health, or just take up a hobby that is fun and rewarding, tango can be the answer that you, a resident of Boston, MA, or maybe - a resident of the world, might be looking for. We take a hands-on, involved approach. Instead of just mindless repetition, we make sure that our students learn to understand every aspect of the tango dance and how to execute the movement properly – all while having a great time, improving their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing, and building life-long relationships.

Ultimate Tango Method teaches sensations as the steps are quickly forgotten while sensations can be recreated – since one’s body remembers. We do use sequences and demonstrate combinations of steps but we reveal the structure, and explain the relationship between elements from the inside out, as once understood the structure can be easily modified or manipulated to achieve the desired effect, to improvise, to surprise, to communicate, to never be bored again.

To be able to dance with anyone in any part of the world is a dream of many. Once you become, what we call a ‘Tango addict’, you will pack your tango shoes anywhere you go whenever you go. (Of course, after COVID-19 is tamed.) Tango Classes for Adults at Ultimate Tango are designed for students interested in exploring partner dancing with a focus on improvisation - so you are able to communicate and dance with anyone (even if you do not know their language) and really - dance to any music (we call it ‘Alternative Tango’) in the Greater Boston area and now globally.

So what’s the difference between Tango, which is a partner dance, and dances traditionally perceived as solo dances such as ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, etc? Argentine Tango is a dance based on partnership. Therefore it is not just the improvement of one’s own skills that matters, but also the ability to clearly communicate with one’s dance partner. To improvise tango requires even more involvement. It works like magic - you communicate your wishes through body language and your partner ‘magically’ responds. Do you speak ‘body language? You definitely should. In a world full of technology - the body still ‘talks’.

Partnering with other dancers requires trust and commitment often leading to lifelong friendships. We aim for perfect synchronicity with a partner, alignment with music, expression, and illustration of feelings, all while executing often very complicated figures, steps, and sequences.

Tango dance classes offer residents of Medford, MA, the Greater Boston area, and now residents of the world the experience that not only teaches them to tango but provides them with cultural intelligence, emotional intelligence, social interaction skills, physical and mental skills anyone and everyone can benefit from throughout their lifetime.

All students enrolled in Beginner level classes of the program are learning the fundamental structure of Argentine Tango, its most recognized steps, combinations, and elements including cruzada, baldoza. Tango Fundamentals Course focuses on the structure of improvisation, navigation/floor craft, as well as ocho adelante, ocho atras, parade, sandwich, medialunas, basic sacadas, barridas, and passadas, and giros in various variations. Strengthening exercises, pivots and turns, posture correcting exercises, and necessary techniques are introduced and implemented as needed as well as through solo technique workouts classes such as Solo Exercises and Classy Heels. Most advanced elements e. g. sacadas, barridas, boleos, ganchos, wraps/enganchos volcadas and colgadas are introduced at later stages - through courses like Tango Mixology, Short Sequences and Classy Heels.

Ultimate Tango creator and owners, Anita Flejter and Hernan Brizuela created a unique, well-structured, progressive Argentine Tango program that proves itself extremely successful and popular.

Introducing first connection, communication/partnership building, ability to lead/follow, musicality and structure of the dance, together with the steps from the first encounter with tango Ultimate Tango's unique method allows dancers to progress reasonably within a short amount of time, with a great understanding of technique and strong basics for improvisation.

The Best Tango Classes

 PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Challenging yourself can lead to significant rewards. Tango can help you feel more confident, give you a new skill, and generally help you with personal enrichment that can make your life better in numerous ways.

IMPROVED PERSONAL HEALTH

Argentine tango will improve your memory, and spatial awareness, make your movement more controlled and precise, improve your posture and let you re-learn the correct and ergonomic use of your joint and muscles. In other words – the aging process will be stopped and reversed!

SOCIAL BENEFITS & SKILLS

When you learn to tango, you never have to worry about being dull at parties again. Tango can help you make friends, impress others, and elevate your next social outing in a big way.

DATE(S) IDEA

Want to really impress your loved one or just do something that will be a ton of fun? You cannot learn the tango in one lesson, just the same as you cannot get to know your partner during one date. Learning to tango together can be the first step of a long journey together. It will stay with you forever. Plus, you can take those skills with you anywhere.

WE BELIEVE THAT

"Argentine Tango is not just a dance. It is the whole philosophy, the culture that allows to not only learn how to partner dance to any music but also how to walk correctly, stand correctly, built spatial awareness, use flexibility and elasticity of your muscles, move to the music, gain perfect posture and perfect manner, interact with older and younger colleagues of any gender, clearly communicate your intention and read the intentions of others, work with the group as well as individually, respect the rules and learn when to break them by using cultural and emotional intelligence as well as the forgotten skill of common sense."

WHY PRIVATE DANCE LESSONS MIGHT BE THE WAY TO GO!

Customized To You

Private dance lessons focus solely on YOU. Once the teacher gets to know you and identifies your goals he/she will teach you the material that will be most appropriate for your needs in the most appropriate order. If your goal is to master social dancing your teacher will make sure you know how to lead/follow, and how to navigate the floor. How to improvise. Your lessons will change and adapt to what your needs are. Everyone has different goals, body types, and learning styles. Private dance lessons will take those things into account and customize the lessons for you.

Faster Progress

Private dance lessons are typically taught one-to-one or two-to-one. This way your teacher has much more time to work with you individually, which will lead to faster progress. Your “problem areas” can be addressed by giving you specific exercises to improve them. During your private dance lesson, you will have the time to analyze music, lead, embrace, foot position, amount of rotation, and a lot more. The amount of detail and technique your teacher can dive into in a private lesson is much greater than that of a group class. That’s because in a group class there may be up to 20 other students that need help and so the teacher’s time is split among them. If you want to improve quickly and have the right technique, you will enjoy private lessons.

Convenience

While group classes are normally scheduled on set days and times, private dance lessons can be scheduled at a time that is convenient to you. If your work schedule is quite hectic, that shall not prevent you from dancing. Private lessons solve this problem and allow you to make an appointment with your instructor at a time that will work for you. We are open for private lessons daily from 9 am to 9 pm. Earlier appointments are sometimes available so please talk to us.
